The intention of working group 2 is to gather and disseminate information on broadband seismic equipment (hardware and software), installation advice and guidelines, maintenance and data handling.

The specific issues are to

• provide practical advice to less experienced people who wish to install broadband seismic stations. This could be advice or suggestions on site selection or preparation, suitable equipment fitting the requirements, handling incoming datastream, etc.


• report on common and/or unusual problems encountered in broadband installations, such as those related to correct timing, energy, temperature, pressure, etc.


• report on technological advances in seismometry, data loggers and data handling such as new sensors, test results for equipment from different constructors, new recording media, software interfaces, etc.
