Transfer functions, system responses and calibration headers

I. Review of fundamentals of system and signal theory for
observatory seismologists.
Laplace transform, z-transform. important theorems/correspondences;
transfer functions, poles/zeros, frequency responses, impulse responses,
minimum phase systems; IIR and FIR filters; causal and acausal filtering,
simulation and restitution.
II. Principles of offered seismic waveform and calibration
data analysis and processing software (introduction to demonstration).
- Automated seismic signal preprocessing (editing, filtering,
simulation, restitution) by PREPROC [1, 2]
- Determinatioon of seismograph system transfer functions by inversion of
transient and steady-state calibration responses
(Programs UNICALT and UNICALF) [3]
- Check of calibration headers and plotting of steady-state and transient
responses in MATLAB 4.2 [4]
