Announcements
- Real-time data availability at the ODC
The data management is being restructured at the ODC (see article)
and new data is becoming available:
- Real-time data from the continuous data stream is accessible through AutoDRM
(rtautodrm@knmi.nl).
How to compose an AutoDRM request can be found on AutoDRM guide
What stations are presently coming into the real-time data buffer can be seen in
Real-time status.
- POND data (for description see article) is presently
available through ftp. The POND data will
eventually (probably within 2003) replace Spyder® when we have secured a large enough data inflow.
This product is presently in an experimental phase, therefore sometimes minor problems may occur.
However, we encourage you to contact us (Chad Trabant
or Bernard Dost) in case of problems.
A catalogue of available events exists.
The POND data is available both as one full SEED volume per event (*.curd.SEED) or in miniSEED per network
(miniSEED.network-code. The network codes are registered at the FDSN.
Shortly after an event a rapid "5-minutes" product is available as well (*.5min).
- Expression of Interest for the EC 6th framework programme
ORFEUS and EMSC have been co-ordinating an Expression of Interest (EoI) for a Network of
Excellence towards the 6th framework programme of the EC:
"Network of Excellence of Research and Infrastructures for European Seismology (NERIES)".
The main objective of this EoI has been to provide the EC with additional information for
formulating the first calls. As earthquake seismology had nearly disappeared from the 6th
framework prgramme, this was an urgent and necessary action and has been condoned as such
by the ESC.
The ORFEUS and EMSC co-ordinating committee have agreed to organise a workshop to prepare a more
definite proposal when the call comes out and provides an opportunity. We aim at a broad list of
invited people, however, you are encouraged to express your interest for such a workshop to either
the ORFEUS or EMSC
staff members.
- EMICES workshop in Barcelona. October 23-25, 2002

will be held in October 21-22, 2002 in Barcelona, in conjunction with the ORFEUS
workshop on "Real-time data exchange in Europe".
The local organiser is Institut d'Estudis Catalans.

- ORFEUS workshop on instrumentation in Istanbul, November 18-20, 2002
ORFEUS WG2 is organising together with Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey the third workshop on:
"Installation and operation of broad-band seismograph stations". Local organiser is
Bogazici University, Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute (KOERI).
The workshop will take place November 18-20, 2002 at the premises of Kandilli Observatory.
Local contact person is Prof. Mustafa Aktar.

Antelope Users Group (AUG) Meeting will be held in Istanbul, Turkey.
The AUG will organise this workshop with Damiano Pesaresi
(pesaresi@ingv.it) as co-ordinator.
The AUG meeting is user driven and primarily intended to provide Antelope users a platform
to meet with each other, exchange experience, and maintain contact with the authors of
Antelope and contributed software. The AUG meeting shall give plenty of time for a free
form question and answer session. In addition, the workshop will consist of a set of talks
and demonstrations that will cover the following general topics:
- How Antelope is being used today
- Design principles behind Antelope acquisition and processing modules
- Using Antelope in an operational environment
- Using Antelope in a research environment
- Software development with the Antelope toolbox
