Explanation of the different datasets:

DatasetDescription
Continuous data
(2002-present):

Continuous waveform data without Quality Control (QC) retrieved through the Virtual European Broadband Seismograph Network. The VEBSN is being created and further expanded within EC-projects MEREDIAN and NERIES. From the real time status you can see what stations are presently available. The data can be retrieved in (mini)SEED format. The European Integrated Waveform Data Archive (EIDA) provides access to data from GEOFON, Geoscope and INGV data as well through the Seismic Data Portal and WebDC.

Event data
(2002-present):
Event data retrieved from the VEBSN and completed with additional data from several networks. No QC is performed so far on this data. This data can be retrieved as one event SEED volume or alternatively as miniSEED volumes per network.
Events data
(1988-2002):
Quality Controlled event data. This is your best choice for event data. Quality control on the event data is being pursued on uncontrolled event data and will become available successively.

Data users are kindly asked to refer to the VEBSN-contributors in any publication using data from ORFEUS.

Please, report data problems to or any other ORFEUS staff member.
